HAND GRENADE

Its easy now to look back

And say that I should have known better.

But sometimes things arent so

Clear to see,

When caught up in a mix of emotions,

When the wine of love is so strong

And intoxicating,

And two people who

See better with their hearts

than with their eyes

Come together...

Volatile souls

Should be handled with care

But neither of us

Could see past our own passions

To recognize

The dangers

Of the chemistry we were mixing.

It all exploded of course

And I dont know which of us

Was more badly hurt.

All I know is that

I am sad it happened.

I truly didnt wish that on her,

Any more than I would wish

Such heartbreak on myself.

Who would have guessed

That such a pretty little woman

Could have a hand-grenade

For a heart.
